ASHIN ASABHACARA
Ashin Asabhacara is the Abbot that has translated teachings of Buddha, his sermons, and the sermons of other monks from Pali and Burmese (Myanmar) languages to English and posted to this website to benefit the lay people around the world.
The Abbot’s name is Sayadaw Ashin Asabhacara.
Ashin Asabhacara studied Buddhist education and scriptures from 1967 -1977. He graduated in 1977 with highest honors, standing first in Burma (Myanmar) and was awarded “Sasanadhaja Dhammacariya ” (Masters degree in Buddhism) by the Government of Burma. Ashin Asabhacara taught Buddhiman and Buddhist scriptures to members of the Sangha (monks) at Pegu and Phyu, Myanmar in 1978 – 1983. The Abbot practiced insight Vipassana meditation during intensive retreats for three months starting from April, 1979 and served as assistant meditation teacher (1984-1988) at The Mahasi Meditation Center in Rangoon (Yangon).
The Abbot has taught and conducted Buddhism and Buddhist Vipassana meditation retreats locally and also to International practisioners (Yogis) from U.S.A, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Nepal since 1984. At present, Sayadaw Ashin Asabhacara is the Chief Abbott of City and Forest Temples in Yangon, Myanmar. Insight Vipassana meditation lessons and retreats are being conducted at the monastery for local and International Yogis.

Promoting and sharing authentic Buddhist teachings and meditation practices.
A meditation retreat has been conducted at YASATI, Bakom Centre, Indonesia.
